Enable Spectators: Allow a secondary set of participants to play alongside your live event

Let remote watchers or non-competers join in and play along with the fun as well. Spectators have a separate scoreboard & response displays.

Spectator mode enables two live events, one for your "players" and one simultaneous but separate event for "spectators" β€” those who want to play along but won't be counted in the main "player" game.

Spectators are able to play along and send in responses just as players do, but they will have their own scoreboard and responses shown on their joined devices. As the host, you can view the spectator game (eg to show the leaderboard) at any time (see below for how).

πŸ‘‰ Note, Spectator mode is a premium feature: you'll need a Pro500 or Pro1000 level upgraded account.

How to Enable Spectators in any event

  1. Open the deck you want to run, and click Start Event at the top right corner.

  2. In the pop up "launch event settings" modal, toggle on (pink) the Allow players to join as spectators before launching the event. (Not seeing the "spectator" option? Ensure you are upgraded to a Pro500 or Pro1000 level account.)

  3. Optional password protection: If you want to restrict who can join as a player vs. spectator, you can select "require password" in this same menu.
Players will then have to enter a password to join, but not spectators (meaning only those with the password can join the main event as a player, and all others will be able to join as a spectator, with no password).

  4. Launch the event as normal.

Participants will then have two options when joining your event:

  • Join as a Player: Play in the "main event"

  • Join as a Spectator: Play along in their own siloed "Spectator" game.

How to Show the Spectator Event as the Host

If you want to show your spectators' game on your main host display (eg. to display the spectator-only Leaderboard scores, or show the spectator submissions for Wordclouds or Poll responses etc), here's how:

  1. Go to your host display screen of your live event with spectators.

  2. On any slide where you want to show the main screen display for your spectator event, hover over the bottom right of your host display screen to find the menu (stack of three dots).

  3. Click the menu button and select 'Show Spectator Event'

3. The spectator event screen will show you all the responses from joined participants who selected "play as spectator" when joining.

You won't be able to advance through the Spectator deck slides.
To go back to your Main Event (players screen) just click on the menu button again, or click 'Back to Main Event' on the upper left of your screen.
