What are the Presenter Tools?

Presenter Tools is an all-in-one window that lets you control your event in real time. You can navigate slides, preview upcoming content, moderate responses, manage the leaderboard, adjust scores, mute sounds, and monitor timers so you can run your event exactly the way you want.

How to open Presenter Tools during an event

Desktop

  1. Move your mouse over the bottom right of your host display screen to find the three dot menu.

  2. Click this menu and find "Presenter Tools" in the options.

  3. Click to open.

Phone

Open Presenter Tools on your phone to control the event from your mobile device:

  1. Open the Presenter Tools on your main host screen with the three-dot menu (the same method as above)

  2. In the launched Presenter Tools window, click the mobile icon in the upper-right corner.

  3. Scan the QR code with your phone’s camera

  4. Log in to your host account

  5. Presenter view will then open on your phone

Super-user cheat: You can go directly to the presenter tools (without scanning the QR or using the three-dot menu) by simply using a URL: Open a window on your phone/secondary screen, and enter the URL of your event, changing the word "event" to the word "host" (eg slideswith.com/event/code becomes slideswith.com/host/code).

How to use the Presenter Tools

Here's what you can do with the Presenter Tools, from advancing slides to moderating content to changing scores and more.

Navigate Slides

Advance / go back a slide:

  • Keyboard: Use the right and left arrow keys

  • Footer: Use the right and left arrow buttons found on the bottom right of your presenter view screen

  • Host screen: click the right side of your main host display screen to advance, or the left side to go back

Jump to a slide: Click on the slide number in the footer of the presenter view (e.g. "3", below), type the slide number you want and press Enter to jump to that slide.

View Current Slide and preview Next Steps

Preview upcoming screens and content, and know exactly what's coming up next.

Current slide: The slide you're displaying right now on the main event display screen.

Player view (right of current slide): The screen your participants see, on their joined device. This is the smaller/mobile size screen to the right of the "current slide" display.

Slide type indicator (bottom left of current slide): The slide type (eg multiple choice, leaderboard, etc) that's being displayed currently. See all slide types.

Dots (bottom right of current slide): The number of dots indicates how many steps this slide has, and the highlighted dot indicates which step of the slide you're on. (For example, this Multi choice slide has 4 steps; step 1 "Question" is currently displayed. The next step will be "answer options displayed", see "next step" below.

Next step / next slide: The view that will display next, when you advance. This will be either the next step of the slide you're on, if there is one, or the next slide that's coming up.

Player view, current slide: What your participants will see on their joined devices, when you advance.

Preview Responses and perform content moderation

You can manage responses in real time during the event, removing content you do not want displayed.

View submitted responses: Select the "Responses" tab in your top menu. You'll see responses as they come in, live.

Remove content: In the Responses tab, click on the trash can icon in the top right of the submitted content you want to remove.

Replace content: click on the "Restore" icon that replaces the trash can item.

💡 Removed responses are hidden from the audience and displayed results, and blurred from your presenter view.

Remove players

Click the "player gear" icon on the bottom left to see a list of your players and remove any joined player from your event.

View Leaderboard and manage points

View leaderboard: Click on the "Leaderboard" tab on the top menu to see a descending list of players' point totals. This is a cumulative of all points earned during this event.

Manually change scores: Click the pencil icon next to the point total of the player whose score you want to modify. Enter the new score and confirm your changes.

Presenter notes

Enter speaker notes on your slide in the builder.

In your live event, your notes will be displayed below the "current slide" view.

Control sounds and timers

Mute sounds: Mute all audio from event (eg background music, soundboard reactions, etc.)
Timer controls: Monitor timer countdown on timed slides. Pause or remove timer from the current slide shown.
