1. View the live event's join page

(If you're the host, launch your live event to display the join screen. The screen should look like this for joiners:)

2. Get your join device

You can join on any device that has a browser and an internet connection:

  • smartphone

  • laptop

  • desktop computer

  • tablet

  • chromebook, etc.

You don't need to download anything to join β€” live events run entirely online on an internet browser (like Chrome, Safari, Firefox).

2. Scan the QR code or go to the URL

QR: turn on your camera and hold it up to the QR code. This will pop up a button: tap it and you'll be taken to the join page.

URL: Open any browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, eg) and type in the URL shown in the middle of the page in the solid box (eg. in the screenshot above it is "slideswith.com/meter"). This will take you to that same join page.

3. Select your name & avatar

You will land on a page that looks like this:

Enter your name in the Name box below, and tap the "+" in the ghost in the top square box.

This will open a screen of emoji for you to select from, for your avatar. The full list of emoji looks like this:

Once you've entered your name and selected an avatar, your screen will look like this:

Then press "Join Event [CODE]"

You will be automatically entered into the event.

Presenter Help

What to tell participants to help them join

Once you've launched your event and shared your screen with your audience, give your joiners these instructions:

"Take out your smart phone and turn on the camera. Hold your camera up to this QR code, and tap the pop-up."

"If you want to join on a computer or are having trouble with the QR, just open an internet browser (like Chrome or Firefox) and type the link displayed in the box into the URL field."

Troubleshooting joining:

  • If joiners are having trouble with the QR code, they can simply open a browser (like Chrome, Firefox, or Safari) on their device and type in the link displayed on that first page. This link takes them to the same place as the QR code.

  • If a joiner doesn't have a smartphone, they can visit the link on that page in any browser, including on their computer.

  • If any joiner is having trouble, ask them to reload their browser page.

Adding new participants after the join slide

It's easy to help later comers join in your presentation, and you don't need to go back to the first slide.

At the top of your event there will be a tab with your event URL β€” simply tell anyone joining in late to open a browser and to type in that url:

Note, you can also close this tab by hovering over it and clicking the << icon on its right end.
